CHOICE OF NEW FIRE CHIEF

SUCCESSOR TO MR A. MORRISON

The name of the new superintendent for the Christchurch Fire Board is likely to be announced today. It was stated in March that the present superintendent (Mr A. Morrison) had reached the retiring age and would retire soon, after 17 years in the position. At a meeting of the board last evening, it was stated that the name of Mr Morrison’s successor would be announced as soon as it had been confirmed by the Fire Services Council. The council will begin a meeting this morning, and the secretary of the board (Mr S. F. Marshall) said last evening he expected a telegram confirming the appointment early in the day.
