Major and Mrs E. Lutyens, who have been spending several months visiting relatives in New Zealand, will leave Auckland by the Ceramic on May 16 to return to England. Mrs Lutynes is a member of the Barton family, formerly of Wairarapa, and a sister of Mrs R. M. Johnson, Mount Torlesse, Springfield. Miss M. N. Crozier, of St. Albans, who recently graduated M.Sc. with equivalent first-class honours in botany, has been appointed to a research position in the microbiology department at Canterbury Agricultural College; Lincoln. , Mr R. A. Jarden, the well-known footballer, and his wife were both capped as bachelors of arts at the Victoria University College graduation ceremony last week.

The following will represent the Wellington provincial district in the Russell Grace Cup golf competition to be played among fgur North Island teams at Paraparamu from June 16 to June 19:—Mesdames D. Crombie, R. Lewis (both of the Wellington club), Mesdames J. B. Hatrick and D. G. Edwards (both of Miramar), Mrs J. Tate (Masterton), Mrs A. H. Thomas (Miramar) and Miss J. Hornabrook (Masterton). The reserves are Mrs Burridge (Masterton), Mrs R. E. Tripe (Wellington) and Mrs Hy-Smith (Hutt). The winning team at this tournament will play the Canterbury team, the South Island finalists, in Wanganui in October. Growing membership—it is now 100 —was reported at the annual meeting of the Wellington branch of the Christchurch Girls’ High School Old Girls’ Association. The year’s report said that the choir had ?gain sung at some of the meetings and had given its services generously to other organisations.
