TRAINING RESUMED BY YVETTE WILLIAMS PREPARATION FOR 1954 EMPIRE GAMES (New Zealand Press Association)

DUNEDIN. May 8. In preparation for the British Empire Games in Vancouver next year, the Otago Olympic champion. Miss Yvette Williams, has resumed light training. She will concentrate mainly on the long jump. Miss Williams will also train for the shot put and discus, as these events are now included on the Empire Games programme. She skips every night and trains on the beach every Sunday. She will also play indoor basketball again. She has gained New Zealand representative honours in this sport. • Although Miss Williams’s coaches, Mr and Mrs J. C. Bellwood, live in Auckland, they are preparing her training programmes.
