NEW SCALE OF MILEAGE ALLOWANCES (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, April 17. A new scale of mileage allowances for public servants using their own cars on Government business has been issued by the Government Service Tribunal. For cars of up to 9.5 horsepower, the rate varies from 7d a mile up to 1000 miles, to 5d a mile over 6000 miles. The variation for cars from 9.6 to 14.5 horsepower is from 8.5 d for the first 1000 miles to 6d over 6000 miles. The

rate for cars of more than 14.5 horsepower varies from 9.5 d down to 7d. These rates will be increased by Id a mile when more than two passengers are carried. Rates payable to public servants using their own motor-cycles are also announced by the tribunal.
