BRITISH WOOL TRADE
“STRONGEST POSITION SINCE 1949” . (Rec. 10 p.m.) LONDON, April 8. Britain’s wool trade is in 'the strongest position known since 1(949, the International Wool Secretariat said in Bradford today. There was a feeling of confidence throughout the wool textile industry, the statement said. One of the most encouraging features was the revival of steady trade in the mills without the “atmosphere of' artificial boom which caused the recession in 1952.” Makers reported tnat they were well booked for several months ahead. Wool consumption, showing a marked increase, was the best since October, 1951. In topmaking, consumption was 66 per cent, above the 1952 figure.
