OFFER BY WEST GERMANY
AMBULANCE UNIT FOR KOREA
(Rec. 8 p.m.) WASHINGTON, April 7. The West German Chancellor, Dr. Adenauer, today offered to send a fully-equipped field hospital unit to Korea. . . .. .. He made the offer to send the unit, which could assist in the care of sick and wounded United Nations prisoners of war freed by the Communists, to President Eisenhower. Mr Eisenhower accepted the. offer “with deep gratitude." Dr. Adenauer was reported to have told Mr Eisenhower that the hospital unit would be fully staffed with German doctors and nurses'and equipped with medical supplies. It would be a unit similar to those of Norway and Italy which have hospitals close behind the fighting lines, but have no combat troops with the United Nations forces.
