REPLACEMENT OF SOLENTS
TALKS ON BRITANNIAS (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, April 8. Mr W. R. Fames, chief salesman for the Bristol Britannia—widely predicted as a probable permanent replacement for the Solents—met representatives of Tasman Empire Airways, Ltd., this afternoon. Mr Fames hopes to convince officials of Tasman Airways that the fourengined Britannia land plane, which wiH seat 66 in luxury sleeper chairs or up to 110 in the tourist class, would be a sound economic choice. If orders were placed now, the Bristol company would not be able to deliver before the •end of 1956.
