WOMEN’S MARCHING

NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS NEXT SATURDAY Seventeen women’s marching teams from nearly every centre in New Zealand will compete in the national championships to be held at Carlaw Park, Auckland. on Saturday. Teams eligible for the championships must have become champions of their respective centres or else have gained a first, second, or third place in the North or South Island championships. The Canterbury’ centre’s representatives will be Whipsters and Browntop. and the present holders of the title, Balmoral (Timaru). will again represent the South Canterbury centre. Blaketown (Greymouth) will represent the West Coast centre. The contest will be judged by a panel cf judges selected from all over New Zealand under the direction of the Dominion 1 chief judge (Mr R. H. Hill, of Welling- ' ton).
