N.Z. RED CROSS SOCIETY
CHRISTCHURCH SUBCENTRE The annual meeting of the Christchurch sub-ceptre of the Red Cross Society was held at the Deanery yesterday afternoon. Mrs Martin Sullivan presided. The annual report stated that the sewing circle had made 118 garments, and 42 second-hand garments had been received. As the result of a collection taken up at the last annual meeting, a parcel had been sent to the Returned British Prisoners of War Association, London, and a letter of appreciation had been received by the sub-centre. Members had also helped with the street day appeal and market held in the Durham Street Art Gallery. The resignation of Miss E. J. Garton, who had been secretary of the sub-centre since its foundation in 1940, was received with regret. Officers were elected as follows: president, Mrs Martin Sullivan; vicegresidents, Mesdames D. Anderson, S. 'ickson, G. T. Weston, and Janet Williams; treasurer, Mrs Weston; secretary, Mrs Reeves Harris; committee, Mesdames M. E. Allen, H. F. Baird, L. A. Fisher, J. Jellicoe, E. H. Rogers. L. Saint-Merat, B. E. Whitcombe, and R. W. Yates. Misses G. Davies, M. Enright and E. J. Garton.
