TRAP SHOOTING

MASTERTON MAN’S FEAT (New Zealand Press Association) MASTERTON, March 10. A Masterton trap shooter, J. D. McKenzie, shot 211 successive clay birds without a miss at the week-end. McKenzie believes this is an Australian and New Zealand record. He shot a run of 20 in the last event at the provincial championships on Saturday at Taita, then shot throughout Sunday without a miss until his one hundred and ninty-second clay. In the shoot-off for a trophy match, McKenzie was extended by W. Nix, of Lake Ferry, who exceeded the hundred mark before missing a bird. The match was of 15 birds and, in the shoot-off after each scored possibles, Nix missed his ninetieth clay to give him a total of 104 for the match.
