JAPANESE WAR DEAD.—Religious rites of Japanese war dead are being held on Pacific islands seven years after the end of World War II. The Japanese ship, Nippon Maru, carrying a team of Government officials and Shinto priests, is making a trip round the islands to bring home the remains of Japanese servicemen. The picture shows a Shinto priest dedicating a stone monument to the war dead on Otori Island.
