Bookmaker Fined £ 100.— Pleading guilty to bookmaking, Frederick William Wintere. aged 34, a slaughterman, was convicted in the Auckland Magistrate’s Court yesterday and fined £ 100. The police he was found in the public bar' of an Auckland* hotel at 4.30 p.m. on Saturday. His records showed 89 win and place bets for a total of £43 7s 6d on the last five races. Wintere claimed *he was only an agent getting Is 6d in the £ from a principal whom he refused to name. —(P.A.)
