MARCH PAST AT HIGH SCHOOL
SALUTE TAKEN BY SIR ARTHUR SIMS A distinguished former pupil of the Christchurch Boys’ High School, Sir Arthur Sms took the salute at the march past yesterday which marked the end of the school’s annual barracks Sir Arthur Sims addressed the cadet battalion briefly, congratulating the boys on their steadiness and the excellence of their marching. More than 900 cadets were on parade, including the school’s naval detachment and the Air Training Corps. At the saluting base with Sir Arthur Sims were the headmaster (Mr J. Leggat), the officer commanding the cadets (Major W. Moffat), the chairman of the school board of manager* (Mrs L. J. Broomfield), the president of the Old Boys’ Association (Mr W. J. A. Brittenden), the area officer (Captain P. K. and the staff officer, Canterbury Division, R.N.Z.N.V.R. There was a large attendance of parents. Sir Arthur Sims met the school teaching staff, inspected the school buildings, and was entertained te afternoon tea.
