VISITS TO FACTORIES IN CHRISTCHURCH Seven factories in Christchurch will be visited by Mr Roy I. Kimmel, commercial attache at the United States Embassy in Wellington, when he makes his first official visit to the South Island this week. Mr Kimmel will also visit factories in Invercargill and Dunedin. Mr Kimmel will arrive by air tomorrow. He will be met at the airgort by the president of the Canterury Manufacturers’ Association (Mr H. C. Urlwin) and the secretary (Mr R. T. Alston), and later will .be entertained at morning tea, where he will

meet the vice-presidents of the association (Messrs J. Bradley and A. H. Lee) and the immediate past president, Mr T. H. Lawn. He will then visit the factory of a firm which manufactures agricultural machinery, and in the afternoon he will visit a tyre factory and a food factory in Papanui. On Friday he will visit a clothing factory, a flourmill, and firms which manufacture electric ranges and men’s shoes.
