BEER SALES IN TRUST BARS

PRICE UNCHANGED IN INVERCARGILL (New Zealand Press Association) INVERCARGILL, January 20. It is possible that there will be no increase in the price of beer in the bars of the Invercargill Licensing Trust, in spite of the price order providing that the standard glass is to be 9oz /or 6d instead of lOoz for 6d. “This matter has not yet been considered by the trust, by my own personal view is that we should not adopt this price increase,” said the chairman of the Trust (Mr H. Ritchie). “There is no obligation on us to do so, and I think the trust can well afford to give its patrons the benefit of the old price,” he said. “In any case, because of the cost of buying stocks of 9oz glasses, it does not seem worth while to adopt this new price.” The Masterton Licensing Trust has not yet discussed the new beer price order, and sales in its bars are being made at the old price.
