Land for Paper Project
No land will be taken for the Te Teko newsprint project without adequate compensation, either by payment or by the exchange of land, for the owners. This promise was given by Sir James Fletcher, chairman of directors of the Tasman Pulp and Paper Company, in Auckland yesterday. “I am sure a quick and satisfactory solution to the difficulty can *be ke said. He was commenting Oft a Te Teko report that Maori farmers in the Onepu district (where the construction camp for the mill is betogkad met at the Haruru meeting house on Sunday and protested against Government surveyors and officials crossing their paddocks without asking permission.—(PA.)
