REPARATIONS TO ISRAEL
Egypt’s Protest At German Action
(Rec. 8 p m.) CAIRO, November 11. The West German Government has refused General Naguib’s request not to ratify the agreement between Israel and Germany on reparations. The West German Ambassador (Dr. Guenther Lawelke) handed General Naguib the German reply tonight. The Arab League Political Committee is expected to meet tomorrow night to consider economic reprisals against Germany for deciding to ratify the agreement.
In Bonn today, the West German Chamber of Industry and Trade told the Government that General Naguib had telegraphed it urgently asking it to dp its utmost to prevent the ratification. In his message General Naguib said that German industrial leaders must protest to the Government to “avoid a catastrophe.”
