U.S. WARSHIPS FOR JAPAN

(Rec. 9.45 p.m.) TOKYO. Nov. 12. The Japanese Foreign Minister, Mr Katsuo Okazaki, and the American Ambassador to Japan (Mr Robert Murphy) today signed a Irnd-lease agreement for the loan of 18 frigates and 50 landing ships to Japan’s Coastal Safety Corps. The United States is lending the ships to Japan for five years without charge. The terms of the loan can be extended for another five years if necessary.
