AID FOR CHILDREN
Sir,—l hear that the appeal for children in Europe and the East is not up to expectations. We should be ashamed as New Zealanders. We are so smug and proud of ourselves, and yet, with all the money we are spending on racing and drink, we can let poor little children starve for the want of our help. I was glad to see the Roman Catholic Bishop making an appeal to his congregation. The Protestant churches should do the same. “The Press” could help to shake the people up, and the Eroadcasting Service could say more definitely where people could leave their contributions.—Yours, etc., BE YOUR BEST SELVES, NEW ZEALANDERS. November 11, 1952.
