COLOUR FILM FOR QUEEN
PRESENTATION FROM CHRISTCHURCH
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, November 11.
When the Prime Minister (Mr Holland) reaches London later this month to attend the Commonwealth Prime Ministers’ economic conference, one of his first duties will be to call at Buckingham Palace and ask Queen Elizabeth to accept from the people of Christchurch a film of the recent Canterbury centennial celebrations.
Mr Holland has been requested by the Mayor of Christchurch (Mr R. M. Macfarlane, M.P.) to present to Her Majesty a spool containing about 800 feet of colour film taken during the centennial celebrations. The film records most of the spectacular aspects of the celebrations.
The spool is contained in a beauti-fully-designed box of Southland beech, with a lid of highly polished totara knot. Inlaid on the lid is the coat of arms of Christchurch.
