EXTRADITION ORDERED
MAN TO BE CHARGED IN AUSTRALIA (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, October 31. To face a six-year-old charge in Australia. Thomas George Stanley Hammond, aged 44, a salesman, was toaay ordered by Mr L. G. H. Sinclair, S.M., in the Auckland Magistrate’s Court, to be extradited. Hammond will leave by air on Sunday for Melbourne. He wnl be escorted by Detective-Inspector Tannahill, of the Criminal investigation Branch in Melbourne, who applied for his extradition. pie charge alleges that Hammond obtained £lOOO bv falsely representing at Ivanhoe. Victoria, that the American comedians Laurel and Hardv were coming to Australia, and would be available for engagement. The police said today that Hammond came to New Zealand last vear while he was on bail from a Sydney Court on a charge of false pretences.
