DRAFTS OF NEW SETTLERS

TWO PARTIES FROM HOLLAND ARRIVAL NEXT MONTH A further draft of Dutch settlers will disembark at Wellington from the Sibajak on November 3. The South Island party, comprising 253 persons, is expected to arrive at Lyttelton on November 4. Of this number, 66 will remain in Christchurch, and the others will go to towns further south. The Christchurch settlers will be taken from the steamer express to the Tasman Hostel, Lyttelton, for breakfast and to complete landing formalities. Later in tne day, those who are coming to living-in employment and private accommodation, will be taken to their new homes. Among the new settlers are carpenters, domestic workers for hospitals and institutions, labourers, footwear operators and trainees for the Post and Telegraph Department. Two families will go to country districts as married couples. After disembarking passengers in Australia, the Waterman will berth at Wellington on November 6 with a party of Dutch Settlers, who will disembark the next day. A total of 66 immigrants from this draft will arrive at Lyttelton on November 8, and 26 of them will live in Christchurch. A woman whose husband has been in Christchurch for several months will come with this draft, together with her three children. Included In the party are four painterßj a farm worker, a joiner, a short-hand-typist, two labourers and an engineer’s labourer. A party of nine British immigrants, who came to New Zealand aboard the Tamaroa, will arrive in Christchurch today. Four families, a carpenter, and a shorthand typist will settle in Christchurch from a party of British immigrants who are expected to disembark from the Rangitane at Wellington on November 8. The Immgration Department has accommodation in view for all the new settlers expected.
