SHIPBUILDING IN JAPAN
(Rec. 7 p.m.) LONDON, Oct 22. Japan is now the second biggest shipbuilding country in the world. Britain is well ahesd as the world leader, according to Lloyd’s.
The tonnage of ships being built in Japan in the quarter ended September 30 was 803.500. Britain had 2,062.482 tons under construction on the same date. _ . The total world tonnage, exclusive of Britain. China. Poland, and Russia, being built at the end of September, was 3.802.391. a gross increase of 264,449 tons compared with last year.
