OLIVER SCORES 67 IN FIRST ROUND

The American golfer, Ed (“Porky") Oliver, scored a fine 67 in the first round of the Ampol tournament at the Lake* course today and gained a lead of five strokes over his nearest rivals. In difficult conditions Oliver equalled the record established in 1948 by Eric Cremin. who today returned an 80. The American hit some tremendous drives, including a drive and a
