General Clark’s Warning (NJZ. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 1215 a.m.) TOKYO, October 22. The United Nations Supreme Commander (General Mark Clark) said to> day that he had warned the United States Army Department that the period of front-line service for troops in Korea would have to be extended rnless more replacements were sent t® the Far East. General Clark said that he had found it necessary to consider the extension of the present system of replacing front-line troops after 36 months’ consecutive service. He had told the Army Department that unless more replacements were made available, it would be necessary to increase consecutive military service to 38 months.
