STORAGE FOR POWER INCREASES
M.E.D. AREA STILL ABOVE QUOTA
The consumption of power in the M.E.D. area on Tuesday was 5.1 per cent, above the new allocation. The position is to be reviewed by the electricity committee of the City Council this afternoon, when future restrictions and cuts will be considered. There was a further increase in water storage for the main South Island system up to 9 a.m. yesterday. The level at Lake Pukaki rose by six inches to 3ft 9in and at Tekapo the level rose by two inches and a half to 2ft 2sin. There was a slight gain at Lake Coleridge. The total storage yesterday morning was 51 500,000 units, ah increase of 1,640,000 units since Tuesday morning.
