AMENITIES AT ARMY CAMPS
PURCHASE FROM MEN’S WATERFRONT PAY Up to £4750 of the money earned by regular soldiers on the wharves during the waterfront strike last year will be spent in the Southern Military District in the next three months. So far expenditure amounting to about half this amount has been authorised. The district authorities have completely equipped an orchestra for Burnham Camp with instruments worth up to £6OO. They have authorised expenditure on a number of radiograms and radio sets for the camps at Addington, Godley Head, and Burnham. Of these, 12 radios and three radiograms will go to Burnham. Writing desks and other writing equipment are being provided for the various messes and club rooms in the three camps, and carpets will be bought for the other ranks’ club rooms at Godley Head. Two sewing machines will be made available at Burnham for the sisters and nurses at the camp hospital, and for members of the Women’s Boyal Army Corps. More than £BO has already been spent on sports equipment, mostly tor the Addington camp.
