DRAMA LEAGUE
Miss Beryl Bigg-Wither, president of the Christchurch and North Canterbury area of the British Drama League, returned to Christchurch yesterday from Wellington, where she represented her area at the half-yearly meeting of the national council of the league. Mr Stanley Campbell, of Wellington, presided at the meeting, which was attended by delegates from areas in all parts of the Dominion, with some observers, and the members of the working committee, all of whom live in Wellington. The major business of the meeting was the preparation of a new constitution to be submitted at the annual meeting in February. It was announced that the British Drama League’s library had been reopened and was now located in Wanganui, with Mrs Gilling as librarian. Much discussion took place on reports from many areas about judges m the area festivals, the elimination festivals, and in the finals of the festivals.
It was reported that the league in New Zealand had become affiliated with the International Federation of the Amateur Theatre, and Miss Olga Harding, of Wellington, who will be going overseas next year, was appointed a delegate to attend a conference of the federation to be held in Paris.
