H.M.S. THOROUGH AT SUVA
DISABLED ENGINE REPAIRED (Rec. 9.30 p.m J SYDNEY, October 5. The British submarine, H-M.S. Thorough, has reached Suva, after being disabled 200 miles from Fiji. A Royai Navy spokesman in Sydney said the Thorough had drifted for-24 hours, when both engines were disabled. The crew had finally repaired an engine. ~ The spokesman said the submarine had maintained contact with aircraft and naval establishments, and bad been in no danger. The Thorough s engines are being repaired by the Royal New Zealand Air Force workshops at Suva.
