BOY DROWNED AT GREYMOUTH

BODY FOUND IN WATERHOLE

(From Our Own Reporter) GREYMOUTH, October 5. An 8-year-old boy was drowned while fishing for herrings in the Proton road lagoon, at the rear of fee Greymouth trotting park, at the peak ©f th© spring tide this morning, He James William Dove, aged 8, son of Mrs Eileen Dove, of Hikurangi. The boy’s body was found early this afternoon in a waterhole behind fee trotting stables, by Mr James Browne, of Cowper street. When the boy failed to return home by 1 p.m. the police were advised and search parties immediately covered the area. A fishing line and a tin with bait in it was found on fee arm of a pipeline from yvhich he was fishing. The child, wife hig mother and 5-year-old brother, was on a holiday vjsjt to his grandparents, Mr and Mrs H. Baker, of Preston road.
