NELSON WELLINGTON AIR SERVICE

PRIVATE OPERATION OPPOSED

(From Our Own Reporter) GREYMOUTH, October 4. The West Coast Trades Council is not in favour of the Nelson-Welling-ton section of thq air service passing from the control of the National Airways Corporation to a private company, Cook Strait Airways. It was agreed, at a meeting of the council, to support the Nelson Trades and Labour Council in its protest against the proposal. The Nelson council, in a letter to the West Coast council, said it considered that services in the more scattered areas, such as the West Coast, would be seriously affected if the corporation sold any of its most profitable sections to private' companies. The West Coast council decided to advise the Minister in charge of Civil Aviation (Mr T. L. Macdonald) and the National Airways Corporation of its attitude.
