R.N.Z.A.F. UNIT FOR CYPRUS
(Rec. 7 p.m.) NICOSIA (Cyprus), Aug. 30. An advance party of the Royal New Zealand Air Force squadron which is to reinforce the Royal Air Force in the Middle East and will be based on Nicosia, arrived in Nicosia to-day. It will train with R.A.F. units in Cyprus and visiting squadrons from the Canal Zone on jet fighters.
Egyptian Swims Channel. An Egyptian. Said el Arrabi, a 35-year-old policeman, to-day became the fourth swimmer to cross the English Channel this year. He crossed from Dover to Cap Gris Nez In 17 hours 42min. He swam the Channel last year. —London, August 30.
