N.Z. CHAMPIONSHIPS
FINAL OF FOURS TITLE? THIS EVENING (New Zealand Press Association) MEW PLYMOUTH, June 1. Last year’s national champion four, the Wellington team, skipped by E. J. D. Macdonald, again reached the final thia year in the New Zealand indoor bowling champlonahipe, held at New Plymouth during the week-end. The team will meet a South Taranaki four skipped by G. Robson, in the final to-morrow night. The teams are: Wellington, C. H. G. Ward (lead), G. McDonald (No. 2), A. E. Curry (No. 3), E. J. D. Macdonald (skip); South Taranaki, D. Sainsbury (lead). Mrs Sainsbury (No. 2), Mrs Robson (No. 3), G. Robson (skip). Women players were prominent in the championships. A women's team from Waikato, skipped by Mrs J. Minlfie, reached the quarter-finals. The oldest woman player was Mrs Gardiner, aged 7S, who played in a North Taranaki team skipped by her daughter, Mrs I. M. Lister. This team lost to Robson’s rink in the third round of post-section play. A record total of 130 fours took part in the championships. Forty-two fours qualified for post-section play.
