PEDIGREE CATTLE SOLD AT RANGIORA
The whole offering was cleared at a stock sale held at Ranglora yesterday, when the Knowlett pedigree and grade Jersey dairy herd was offered for sale on account of Mr R. C. Thompson, of Carleton, together with offerings from other breeders.
There was a large attendance of buyers from all over Canterbury. Bidding was spirited throughout the sale. Entries totalled 70 head. Most of the Jersey cows brought from 30 to 40 guineas, and two-year-old heifers from 25 to 37 guineas. Pedigree heifer cows brought from 7 to 14 guineas and pedigree Jersey bulls from 15 to 19 guineas.
Top price for grade dairy cattle was £4l, and the rest of the offering brought from £2O to £34.
A line of grade Frlesians brought up to £2B. Empty rising two-year-old Jersey heifers realised from £l4 to £l9 and Jersey cows in profit from £23 to £3O. Crossbred dairy cows brought from £25 to £37.
