Minor Fires.— A call at 5.49 p.m. yesterday was answered by units from the Central and Woolston brigades to a chimney fire at 234 Linwood avenue occupied by Mr G. S. Strott. Four units from the Central brigade answered a call to a fire in a bed at the Manchester Hotel. 58 Manchester street, at 643 p.m. The proprietor is Mr R. J. L. Cole. The bed was damaged before the fire was extinguished.
