FAST TIMES AT WAIMAIRI BEACH

An average speed of more than 60 miles an hour was recorded in every event held by the Pioneer Motor Club at Walmairi Beach on Saturday. The races were held on a straight mile course, which meant pulling up to a walking pace on each turn. G. Stuthridge won both events in the 250. c.c. class, winning easily over two miles in Imin 51 l-ssec and four miles in 3min 48 2-ssec.

The 500 c.c. sprint over two miles was won by W. Brown in Imin 25 l-ssec, and in the eight miles he appeared to have the race in hand when his machine developed engine trouble a mile from the finish. The race was won by D. Soanes in 6min 54 l-ssec. B. Chambers was a double winner in the 350 c.c. class with Imin 45 2-ssec for two miles and smin 26 4-ssec for six miles. Results:— 250 C.C.
