MINOR FIRES

The furnishings of a room in a house at 10 Somerset street, Spreydon, were 'damaged yesterday when an electric heater set fire to some clothing on the floor. The Christchurch Fire Brigade answered the call at 6.13 p.m. yesterday. The house is occupied by Caroline Simmons. A tank stand at the rear of a house at 100 Burwood road was damaged by fire about 9 p.m. yesterday. The fire was extinguished by the occupant oi the house, Mr V. Lang. The fire brigade did not attend, as the house is outside its area. Slight damage was also done to the rear of the house. The brigade answered a call to a chimney fire at a house at 820 Colombo street, occupied by Mr K. Neddrie, at 5.11 p.m. A call to a Chimney fire at 309 Montreal street, occupied by Olive Nathan, was answered at 4.14 p.m.
