MR J. S. JESSEP
(New Zealand Press Association) GISBORNE, November 10. Mr James Simon Jessep died at his home, “Waihi Station,” near Wairoa, last night. Mr Jessep was bom in North Otago ii 1879. He was educated there and at Christchurch. Up to 1914, when he bought “Waihi Station,” and began organising work for the farming industry, he managed large properties in Canterbury. Mr Jessep was a foundation member and vice-chairman of the New Zealand Meat Board, and twice visited Britain on its behalf. He was a national vice-president of the Sheepowners’ Federation, and played a prominent part in the establishment of the Wairoa Farmers’ Meat Company. In the depr.ssion years he was deputy-chair-man < the Unemployment Board. In his later years he had charge of the huge stock resources of the East Coast Trust Commission, and until recently was also trustee and adviser to the ric.. Mangatu Trust. He is survived by Mrs Jessep, four sons, and one daughter.
