NO MENTION OF NEW ZEALAND
(New Zealand Pres* Association! AUCKLAND, November 11. Surprise that mention of New Zealand had been omitted from the statement of the British Minister of Food (Major Lioyd George) on Britain’s tood supplies was expressed by the chairman of the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board (Mr J. D. Ormond), when he was interviewed by telephone at Waipukurau to-night. Mr Ormond said that, as far as he knew, no recent communication had been received from Britain by the board on the subject of supplies. “New Zealand is Britain’s breadbasket,” said Mr Ormond. “It is her only source with any possibility of an immediate increase in production. The Argentine and Australia cannot increase their exports immediately. “It is interesting to note that, while these countries are producing less for export, they are being paid more, and New Zealand, which is keeping production up, is receiving less,” he concluded.
