UNITED NATIONS DAY
N.Z. Representatives At U.S. Ceremonies tN.2. Army Information Service) KURE, October 21. With other representatives of the United Nations forces in Korea, a bombardier from the 16th New Zealai d Feld Regiment and a petty officer from the New Zealand frigate Rotoiti will take part in a parade at Lake Success on United Nations Day. October 24. they will tour several major American cities beginning their return journey in the last week in November. Those representing New Zealand will be Lance-Bombardier John Ferguson Kirkland, aged 22, of New Plymouth, and Acting Petty Officer Keith Ivor Knight, also aged 22, of Auckland. Lance-Bombardier Kirkland is a technical assistant to the 163rd Battery, and in civilian life a salesman. He says that one of the first things he will do on reaching the United States is to ring up his father and mother at New Plymouth. Acting Petty Officer Knight, who first went to sea in 1946 in the Achilles, and then served in the Gambia and the Bellona, is a gunner radar specialist Both > men were looking forward keenly to the trip, but Acting Petty Officer Knight is anxious to be back in Auckland by December 1. He plans to get married on that day.
