Succeeds When Royal Marine, the pacemaker, broke at the straight entrance in the Ashley not Handicap at the North Can* terbury TUcing Club’s meeting at Rangi. ora on Monday, wyvern took over and won by a neck in a photo-finish from Defendant. Defendant would probably have won had aha not broken just short of the post. Real Globe finished on for third tout lengths away, and Maytime came from well back to be fourth. Next to finish wereß Oytl Errol ‘ 9 P* ll ,nd owned and trained by J. Slack, at Addington. She was bred at Invercargill by Messrs T. Davidson and J. Dyet, who sold her to Slack as a yearling at a high price.
