OFFICE BROKEN INTO DURING WEEK-END
HEATER LEFT SWITCHED ON
The office of Harman and Stevens, 119 Victoria street, was entered during the week-end, but only some stamps were stolen. A heater had been switched on by the intruders and left on, and a file, folder close to it was burned. Two boxes of envelopes were scorched, a waste paper basket was burned, the desk was charred and a hole burned in the carpet. A window was cracked by the heat. Fortunately the fire did not spread and the heater apparently fused.
