HEAVY RAIN ON MONDAY NIGHT
In the 12. hours ended 6 a.m. yesterday, I. of rain fell in Lyttelton. Mr L. Toms, Oxford street, who has been keeping records since early thia year, said that this was the heaviest fall he had. recorded tn Lyttelton. Charteris Bay Yacht Club Nine boats started in a race held on Sunday by the Charteris Bay Yacht Club for the E. and A. Hocking trophy. The course was triangular, and there was a moderate north-easterly breeze. Result:—Ariel (JB. Bowater), 11.1.57, 1; Farlena (D. Fisher), 11. 2; Kismet (G. Anderson), 11.3.18. 3.
