Ha n .river estuary—island studded and difficult to navigate—is on the west coast of Korea just below the 38th parallel. It was earlier reported that two further landings behind the Communist lines on the west coast of Korea had been carried out by Royal Marines and sailors from the New Zealand frigate Ro'oitl. A major air battle took place between 28 American Sabre jet fighters and 70 Russian-type aircraft. Two Communist aircraft were shot down. Tank-led United States troops advancetl uo to three miles along the 25-mlle west Korean front in a drive i°, upset the Communist offensive build-up which is spaar-headed by three armoured divisions.
