FORCED LANDING ON WEST COAST

AUSTER AIRCRAFT ON SURVEY FLIGHT (From Our Own Reporter)

GREYMOUTH, September W. An emergency landing in a field at Cronadun was made late yesterday by an Auster aircraft owned by Messrs Eadie Bros, and stationed at Greymouth.

The pilot. Mr J. B. Young, decided to make the landing because of trouble m an oil pipe. He chose a 19-acre grass paddock on the property of Mr J. Mitchell and brought the down without mishap. Th* P asse , n gers, Messrs C. Smith, of Christchurch. and L. Williams, of Blackball, were on a survey flight over the timber areas in the Cronadun and Rotokohu districts. The aircraft was tied down with ropes overnight and this morning a leaking oil pumu was repaired without difficulty. The Auster made an uneventful take off at 12.45 p.m. and arrived at Greymouth at 2,15 p.m.
