THEFT OF TRUMPET
SENTENCE OF REFORMATIVE DETENTION
(New Zealand Press Association) NAPIER, September 10. Mervyn Leslie Millward, aged 26, a barman-porter and labourer, oi Auckland, wap to-day sentenced to eighteen months reformative detention for the theft on August 1 of a trumpet and case valued at £49, the property of Lewis Eady, Ltd., AuckWhen Millward appeared on remand in the Napier Magistrate’s Court, Mr W. A. Harlow, S.M., told him: “You have had the benefit of 11 months’ Borstal training but you have not settled down.” The reformative detention sentence was designed to help the accused to acquire regular habits and settle down, he added.
