DELAYS AT LYTTELTON

Sir,—l would like to reply to “Bonus” and assure him that those who are connected with shipping at Lyttelton are aware of the good work being done there by the present watersiders group. If it does not appear to be as good as Auckland work it is mainly because of the railway problems mentioned by “Bonus.” Another problem is also the handling of trucks at Lyttelton, but I believe this is receiving attention by the Railway Department. It is to be hoped that “Bonus" and his coworkers will continue to carry out their good work and so retain the respect of all citizens—a respect never merited by the previous waterside group.—Yours, etc., i MERCHANT. September 3, 1951.
