FIGHTER SQUADRON FORMED

FIRST IN N.Z. TO USE JET AIRCRAFT (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON. September 3. No. 14 (Fighter) Squadron of the Royal New Zealand Air Force—New Zealand’s first squadron to operate with jet-propelled aircraft—formed up at Ohakea at the week-end and will become officially effective from to-day. The squadron is to be equipped with De Havilland Vampire fighters to train and operate in the interceptor fighter and ground attack role. The squadron will nave 12 Vampires.
