CHATHAM CUP MATCH
EASTERN SUBURBS WINS NORTH ISLAND FINAL (New Zealand Press Association! AUCKLAND. August 28. I Eastern Suburbs, of Auckland, beat Wellington's Petone Settlers in the NorUi Island final of the Chatham Cup at Blandford Park on Saturday afternoon. It won by 8 goals to 0. a score which is believed to be a record in the semi-finals of the cup. Petone was four goals down in the tirsi 23 minutes, and Eastern Suburbs led 7-0 at the interval. Afterwards, Petone seldom displayed any pattern of combined play, and there was a suspicion that had Eastern Suburbs played as in the first ha'f. a double-figure score could have resulted. The ground was heavy and slippery, out apart from this there were no circumstances to account for Petone’s downfall except that it was beaten by a better and fitter team, which played faster and more accurate football. h Eastern Suburbs will now meet Nortnern, of Dunedin, in the final at the Basin Reserve. Wellington, on September 8. * special train has already o«en arranged to take supporters from Auckland to Wellington
