SATURDAY (Before Mr J. D. Renton, J.P., and Mr F. H. Dephoff, J.P.) REMANDED Brian Herbert Holmes, aged 26, a labourer, was remanded until next Thursday on.a charge that with intent to defraud William Ewart Donnithoine. he falselv represented that a cheque for £3, signed B. H. Holmes, was a good and valid order. —. Harold Hamilton, aged 45, a windowcleaner, and Neville Mayo, aged 20, a cook, were jointly charged that with intent to defraud, they obta ned from Mrs Crosby, Havelock North, the sum of £lOO by falsely representing that the money was required to pay men employed on Mayo's farm. Mayo was also charged with obtaining from Mrs Crosby the sum of £l2O by falsely representing that he had a farm which he was selling and wanted the money urgently to pay off men engaged on the farm. Both accused were remanded to appear at Napier on August 30.
